Digi Subitising Games

Are your students learning to subitize? Look no further! Introducing our must-have collection of Online Perceptual Subitizing Games 1-6. These interactive and educational online games are designed to help your EYFS students develop their ability to “see how many, at a glance without counting!”

Subitizing is a fundamental skill for young learners, and our carefully crafted online games are here to support their journey. Perfect for Kindergarten, Preprimary, and Preschool-aged students, these games focus on nurturing and strengthening their perceptual subitizing skills.

What is Subitising?

Did you know there are two types of subitizing? Perceptual and Conceptual. Perceptual subitizing covers numbers 1 to 4 or 5, while conceptual subitizing involves numbers 7 to 12.

Our brains can easily subitize small collections consisting of 1-5 objects. It’s almost like magic – we can instantly perceive the quantity without counting. However, when the collection goes beyond five, it enters the realm of conceptual subitizing, which is a more advanced form of subitizing and serves as a stepping stone to addition. In these larger collections, students are encouraged to subitize 2 or 3 smaller collections within the set or divide the collection into smaller parts.

For instance, to subitize six, they can subitize three and three, four and two, or five and one. By recognizing the number pairs within the set, they can combine them to arrive at the answer of six.

  • Ten frames: Dive into ten frames and strengthen the ability to identify the quantity displayed.
  • Tallies: Practice counting and recognizing numbers through tally marks.
  • Counting fingers: Explore the connection between finger configurations and subitizing.

These games are interactive, engaging, and designed to captivate young learners. Through play, your students will develop their subitizing skills, improve their number sense, and build a strong foundation for mathematical understanding.
