Teaching Numbers To 1000 Task Cards
Are you tired of searching through stacks of worksheets and activity sheets for the perfect math activity for your year 2 students? Overwhelmed with finding, sorting and setting up maths materials? Look no further! I’m excited to share with you a collection of math task cards that are not only engaging and effective but are SUPER convenient and easy to store in Kmart or Spotlight photo Storage boxes; giving you quick access to 12 or 24 math activities that can be used for math centres, morning work and early finishers!
These task cards are designed especially for building fluency and flexibility with numbers up to 1000, typically taught in a Year 2 classroom, and align with the Australian Curriculum Outcome:
Recognise, model, represent and order numbers to at least 1000
This Australian Curriculum Outcome follows on from previous year level outcomes where students were taught numbers to 20 (including those tricky teens) and numbers to 100. But beware! Students who have not completely grasped those teens and early H T O understanding are on shaky ground and will not be ready for numbers to 1000!
Luckily we have included ALL the numbers 0-1000, in our task cards, which makes them easy for teachers to differentiate and meet the varying ability levels of students. All you need to do is pick the cards you want to include in your task card sets (some sets have way too many to fit everything into the boxes!)
Whether it’s place value and partitioning or comparing and ordering, these task cards have got you covered and are sure to keep your students engaged and excited about learning numbers up to 1000.
Here’s what our Numbers to 1000 maths task cards will help students to learn:
- Recognise numbers including being able to read numbers as digits and translate this to number names in words.
- Model Numbers using a range of formats including Number Charts and Grids, Base 10 materials, place value abacus, number lines, TH H T O & expanded notation
- Represent Numbers by writing or typing numbers as digits or number names
- Order Numbers include in sequence, in a pattern, or a rule, forwards and backwards from any starting point. Including sorting and comparing numbers from highest to lowest and vice versa or based on place value
So, don’t waste any more time searching for the perfect math activity. These task cards are the best solution for any year 2 math classroom. Check them out below and start using them in your classroom today!
